BACOLOD City – Fire struck two barangays in Negros Occidental – one in Bago City and another in Cadiz City – early this week.
The blaze in Barangay Tabunan, Bago City hit the barangay hall around 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
Barangay Captain Maria May Claridad Suarez learned about it only from her utility worker and the barangay tanods.
Arson investigators have yet to identify the cause and origin of the fire. Initial investigation showed the doorknob at the back of the barangay hall appeared to have been destroyed.
They pegged the cost of damage at P200,000. The locals helped put out the blaze.
Around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, fire razed the houses of Franklin Cabaluna and Eduardo Cabaluna in Hacienda Caridad 3, Barangay Luna, Cadiz City. It was not immediately clear how the two victims were related.
Fire Officer 1 Harold Dajay pegged the cost of damage at almost P500,000. Initial investigation showed a cellphone being charged caused the fire./PN
