BACOLOD City – About 500 barangay officials and municipal employees will gather for the 1st Isabela Municipal Convention on Sept. 9 to 11 at the Socio-Cultural Center in Isabela, Negros Occidental.

“The event is all set,” said Mayor Joselito Malabor yesterday.

With the theme “Empowering the People toward the Federal Form of Government,” the convention will highlight the passing of a resolution endorsing federalism in the Philippines.

“It’s high time that we endorse it,” said Malabor.

Department of Interior and Local Government undersecretary Jesus Hinlo and federalist Mary Jane Locsin will attend as guest speakers.

Rep. Alejandro Mirasol (Negros Occidental, 5th District) and Rep. Stephen Paduano (Abang Lingkod Partylist) were also expected to be present in the convention.

The three-day event will close with the celebration of the Panublion Festival, the same day of the 117th anniversary of the Civil Service Commission.

Moreover, Rep. Robert Barbers (Surigao del Norte, 2nd District) will be in Isabela today for the groundbreaking of the Tinongan National High School./PN
