BACOLOD City – “It’s alright with me.”

Mayor Evelio Leonardia did not begrudge the changing of the New Bacolod Economic Highway’s name to Bacolod-Negros Economic Highway.

The ongoing road construction was one of Leonardia’s priority projects when he was congressman from 2013 to 2016.

The 21-kilometer road – under Leonardia’s authored resolution – was initially planned to stretch from Barangay Sum-ag to the Bacolod-Silay Access Road in Barangay Bata.

But after Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez (Negros Occidental, 3rd District) signed an agreement with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the road will extend to Victorias City, Negros Occidental.

“As long as the names “Bacolod” and the “economic highway” are retained, it’s okay with me,” said Leonardia./PN
