ILOILO City – Crimes in the metropolis are continuously decreasing, according to the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), and these result to a peaceful and livable city.
There were 74 recorded crimes from Sept. 4 to 10, a weekly assessment of police station commanders showed.
The figures were lower compared to the 102 crimes recorded during the same period last year.
“This will boost the tourism and economy of the city. People will also continuously trust their police and city government,” said Senior Inspector Shella Mae Sangrines, ICPO spokesperson.
New ICPO director Senior Superintendent Henry Biñas ordered police station commanders to sustain the campaign against illegal drugs and illegal gambling.
Biñas also vowed to continue the internal cleansing at ICPO.
Station commanders will be assessed. Biñas will then determine whether or not there is a need to revamp, said Sangrines.
“We can attribute the decrease in crimes to the sustained deployment of ICPO personnel to specific strategic areas and at the same time to the interventions we did based on the weekly assessment,” said Sangrines.
Station commanders identify areas of convergence and coordinate with barangay officials to put up closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in dark areas of villages to prevent crimes.
