BACOLOD City – Senior Police Officer 1 Joshua Barile is facing three criminal charges filed by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) following the raid conducted on his house last week. Barile attended an inquest proceeding on his charges for violation of the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and Presidential Decree No. 1877 before Fiscal Ma. Lina Gonzaga at the City Prosecutor’s Office.
“This is their crystal-clear revenge against me,” said Barile, who is now under the custody of the NBI.
The court has given him “several days” to answer the accusations, Barile said.
Several high-powered firearms, bullets, grenades, and sachets of shabu were recovered from Barile’s house in Regent Pearl Homes Subdivision, Barangay Alijis on Sept. 22.
The operation was conducted by the NBI and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency on the strength of a warrant issued by Executive Judge Reynaldo Rey Alhambra of the Regional Trial Court Branch 53.
“Gapangayo ako sa ila nga indi ko nila pagpatam-an kay I’m only a non-commission police officer. May mga opisyal nga ara sa taas. Amo na lang to ila sukton,” said Barile.
Barile is the section head of the Regional Civil Security Unit of the Negros Island Region Firearms and Explosive Office located in Barangay 39.
He said he has official documents to prove that he was allowed to bring the firearms to his house for “safekeeping.”
Barile claimed that the grenades and the drugs found in his house were “planted.”/PN
