ILOILO City – Two cousins were shot by a businessman in Barangay Cawayan, Carles, Iloilo, a police report showed.
Residents Rodney Olarte, 47, and Ricky Medalla, 43, sustained gunshot wounds on their stomachs. They were confined at the Capiz Emmanuel Hospital.
Police identified the suspect as Noel Almario.
The cousins who were on board a motorcycle had an altercation with Almario who was on board a pickup vehicle at around 11:25 a.m. on Sunday, a police report showed.
When they got near Almario’s house, Medalla threw a slipper at the businessman’s vehicle.
This prompted Medalla to ran to his house to grab a firearm and shoot Medalla, police said.
Seeing what happened to his cousin, Olarte took a bamboo pole and struck the pickup. Then Almario shot him, too, said the police.
Almario fled after the incident and remained at large as of this writing. The caliber of the firearm he used was still unidentified./PN
