ILOILO City – A Melvin taxi rammed two streetlights and got stuck on a sidewalk along the highway in Barangay Bolong Oeste, Santa Barbara, Iloilo yesterday.

Its driver was sober but fell asleep, according to Senior Inspector Rey Pabalan, Santa Barbara police chief.

Driver Edwin Morga, 34, of Cabatuan town sustained minor injuries on the body after the incident at around 4:15 a.m.

He was treated as an outpatient at the St. Therese MTCC Hospital in this city.

The taxi’s (plate number FWX 616) front bumper, hood and front wheels were severely damaged.

Morga was bound for home in Cabatuan at the time, police said./PN
