BACOLOD City – The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) wanted to thank Senior Superintendent Jack Wanky for his nine-month service as the director of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO).
Wanky was transferred to the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) on Oct. 10 upon the order of Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag, PRO-6 director.
The SP unanimously passed a resolution stating how Wanky “left an imprint in the BCPO.”
The resolution – which was authored by Councilor Ricardo Tan, chairman of the SP committee on police matters, peace and order and illegal drugs – stated that Wanky did this “by diligently tapping the services of civilian volunteer groups as multiplier forces in the maintenance of peace and order in the community and in consistently fighting against crimes.”
The resolution further stated that Wanky “had efficiently performed his duties and obligations as PNP City Director of Bacolod and had in fact mobilized the entire police force in mapping out plans and in executing the same, in conformity with the priorities set forth by the City Peace and Order Council and the local authorities.”
Superintendent Roderick Minong was assigned as the officer-in-charge of the BCPO, replacing Wanky.
Minong simultaneously heads the BCPO and the Regional Public Safety Battalion 6 based in Victorias City, Negros Occidental.
In a news conference following Wanky’s transfer order, PRO-6 deputy regional director for operations Senior Superintendent Jesus Cambay Jr. said “a change that will reduce isolated crimes and fear that these crimes bring” is needed in the city.
Cambay also said that Mayor Evelio Leonardia has reported to them isolated incidents of crimes in the city that threatened the MassKara Festival celebration.
“We serve upon the pleasure of our superior officers. I have no security of tenure. As what the mayor said, we are always subjected for a review and nandyan na ang order. As professional officers, we have to follow,” Wanky said during the conference./PN
