BACOLOD City – Apprehensions of overloaded trucks in the province has not yet started, according to Land Transportation Office Negros Occidental head Renato Novero.
It was initially reported that the apprehensions of trucks carrying more than their load capacity will start this week.
But after Novero met with Department of Public Works and Highways district engineer Abraham Villaruel on Oct. 11, the schedule of apprehensions was moved to late-October.
Villaruel said it will “probably [be] after MassKara Festival.”
The schedule of apprehensions was moved because the DPWH do not yet have the weighing scales to be used to determine overloaded trucks.
A composite team will be in-charge of inspecting trucks in the province, Novero said.
Novero added that overloaded truck apprehensions have already started in Iloilo and some parts of Panay Island.
Meanwhile, Novero warned of stiffer penalties against trucks that park along national highways./PN
