MANILA – Former collegiate players from UAAP and NCAA lead 44 applicants for the 2017 PBA Rookie Draft on Oct. 29 at Robinsons Place in Ermita, Manila.
Among the UAAP cagers are Jeron Teng, Jason Perkins, Julian Sargent, and Thomas Torres of De La Salle University Green Archers, and Kiefer Ravena, Gwynne Capacio and Christian De Chavez of Ateneo Blue Eagles.
Also participating are Raymar Jose, Monbert Arong and Arvie Bringas of Far Eastern University Tamaraws; Ebrahim Enguio, Emil Palma and John Rey Sumido of the University of the East Red Warriors; Anton Manual and Dave Moralde of the University of the Philippines Maroons; Kyle Neypes of National University Bulldogs and Joseph Nalos of Adamson Falcons.
Among the NCAA hopefuls are Rey Nambatac, Felix Apreku and Jomari Sollano of Letran Knights; Wilson Baltazar, Jebb Bulawan and Joseph Gabayni of Lyceum Pirates; Davon Potts and Dan Sara of San Beda Red Lions; Zach Nicholls and Lervin Flores of Arellano Chiefs; Gabriel Dagangon of the University of Perpetual Help, John Earvin Grospe of Jose Rizal University, and Sidney Onwubere of Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals.
Also listed are PBA D-League cagers Robbie Herndon, Andreas Cahilig, Elmer Cabahug, John Karlo Casino, Jon-Jon Gabriel, Jayson Grimaldo, Michael Vincent Juico, and Mark Tallo.
Kia Picanto owned the No. 1 overall pick and will likely go for Filipino-German center Christian Standhardinger, followed by NLEX Road Warriors, Blackwater Elite, Phoenix Fuel Masters, and GlobalPort Batang Pier.
Completing the first round draft order are Alaska Aces, Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, Star Hotshots, TNT KaTropa, San Miguel Beermen, Meralco Bolts, and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings./PN
