BACOLOD City – Winners in the MassKara Festival street and arena dance competition school and barangay categories were announced on Oct. 21 and 22, respectively.
Barangay 18 bested 13 other competing groups, followed by Punta Taytay (first runner-up), Mandalagan (second runner-up), Tangub (third runner-up), and Alijis (fourth runner-up).
Barangay 18 bagged all the special awards: Best in Mask, Best in Costume, Best in Concept, and Best in Choreography.
For the school category, Apolinario Mabini Elementary School and Romanito Maravilla Sr. National High School (Unit II) bagged the championship title in their respective levels.
Runners-up in the elementary level were Education and Training Center School-I (first), Luis Puentevella Elementary School (second) and Bata Elementary School II (third).
For the secondary level, the runners-up were Paglaum Village National High School (first), Bacolod City National High School (second) and Domingo Lacson National High School (third).
Apolinario Mabini Elementary School was awarded two special awards – Best in Concept and Best in Choreography – while the Education and Training Center School-I, Best in Costume, and the Bata Elementary School II, Best in Mask.
The Romanito Maravilla Sr. National High School (Unit II) got all the special awards in the secondary level.
Seven elementary schools and four secondary schools joined the competition.
Meanwhile, barangays 22, 5 and Singcang-Airport placed first, second and third, respectively, in the Electric MassKara performing floats competition./PN
