BACOLOD City – Landslides affected several villages in Bago City, Negros Occidental.

Residents of hinterland barangays Elijan and Ma-ao were forced to evacuate after their houses were destroyed on Oct. 18, according to Mary Jean Ortizo, action officer of Bago City’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO).

Ortizo said the heavy and continuous rain caused the landslides.

The City Engineer’s Office is clearing the roads of affected barangays. Some families have already returned to their houses.

In Barangay Binubuhan, a cargo truck was trapped.

Other affected barangays were Atipuluhan and Mailum, among others.

No casualties were reported, the DRRMO said./PN
