NATIONAL women’s volleyball team mainstay Dennise “Denden” Lazaro has broken her silence on her supposed “attitude” toward a fan during Philippine Superliga’s out of town game in Bacolod City.
Lazaro claimed on Twitter she was not being snobbish when she refused to be wrapped around by a male fan.
“There are certain situations that make a person feel uncomfortable, like when random people invade someone’s private space,” the Cocolife Asset Managers player tweeted.
“And to me, personal space is something I highly value,” she said. “I apologize if I offended anybody with my action, but I don’t apologize for being me. I’d like to thank everyone who has been sending me love and positivity.”
A video taken at Superliga’s meet-and-greet showed Lazaro avoiding a male fan who tried to put an arm around her during a photo op at the L’Fisher Hotel lobby.
The video sparked criticisms from a number of fans on the former Ateneo Lady Eagles libero, who was reportedly rude to some fans in various incidents before./PN
