SWIMMER Kyla Soguilon bagged two gold medals in the Batang Pinoy Visayas leg at the Lorenzo G. Teves Memorial Aqua Center in Dumaguete City.
The Kalibo, Aklan native won the 200m individual medley (2 minutes, 39.60 seconds) and the 50m backstroke in (33.58 seconds) on Saturday.
“I am contented with my performance but I will continue to improve,” Soguilon said.
Fellow Aklanon swimmer Michael Gabriel Lozada also snatched two golds in 13-15 years old 200m individual medley (2:51.79) and 50m backstroke (35.18).
“Masaya po ako dahil nanalo kahit medyo nahirapan sa una,” said Lozada, who was set to compete in 400m individual medley and 200m backstroke.
Swimmers Jennuel de Leon and Maria Reina Nazareta, both from Aklan as well, added one gold medal each in the 12 and Under 100m freestyle boys’ and girls’ categories, respectively.
Team Iloilo City captured two golds and two silvers in pencak silat on Sunday.
Gold medalists were Paul Onte Joevic (tunggal solo) and Lovelynn Lopez, Alexandra Espino and Lester Lampasa (regu girls).
Cedric Asuga and Jude Crystil Sarabia claimed silver medals in boys’ double ganda. Lampasa and Espino had the same feat on the distaff side.
Negrenses John Christian Pamatian and Marjorie Bermudes bagged a gold each at the start of athletics over at the Gov. Mariano Paredes Memorial Stadium.
Pamatian of Bago City clocked 18:07.03 in boys’ 3000m run while Bermudes of La Carlota City posted 10.73m in girls’ shot put./PN
