BACOLOD City – Loose firearms were surrendered to the police in E.B. Magalona and Toboso towns in Negros Occidental.
In Toboso, Barangay General Luna village chief Efren Mandajuyan endorsed to the police a .357-caliber gun loaded with a live bullet.
Chief Inspector Ariel Pico, Toboso police station officer-in-charge, said Mandajuyan told them that the owner– who requested anonymity – gave him the gun to be surrendered to the police around 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
On the same day at around 2:30 p.m., the 47-year-old Maricor Olvido of Barangay 3, E.B. Magalona surrendered to the police a .38-caliber firearm and bullets, a police report showed.
Senior Inspector Anthony Burgos Jr., E.B. Magalona police station officer-in-charge, said the firearm was owned by Olvido’s late brother Nelson.
Olvido surrendered the gun in Barangay 1, E.B. Magalona during a dialogue, or pulong-pulong.
