MANILA – Ceres-Negros Football Club stars Fernando Rodriguez and Bienvenido Marañon topped the scoring at the close of the 2017 Philippines Football League elimination round.
The 30-year-old Rodriguez was the league’s top goal scorer after 28 matches with 21 conversions while fellow Spanish striker Marañón, 31, was at close second place with 20 conversions.
Coming in at third place are Jordan Mintah of Kaya-Makati Football Club with 18 goals, Takumi Uesato of JP Voltes Marikina with 16 and Ilonggo Jan Jesus Melliza of Stallion-Laguna FC with 13 goals.
Davao-San Miguel Aguilas teammates Adam Sawyer and Philip Younghusband and JP Voltes-Marikina’s Takashi Odawara placed sixth to eighth place with 10 conversions each.
Davao-San Miguel’s James Younghusband and Kaya-Makati’s Robert Lopez Mendy is at ninth to 10th place with nine goals each, while Global-Cebu’s Rufino Sanchez is at 11th with eight goals.
Ceres-Negros goalkeeper Ronald Muller, meanwhile, registered eight clean sheets or for keeping the opponent scoreless for a full game after 28 matches.
Stallion-Laguna’s Benito Rosalia, Meralco Manila FC’s Florencio Badelic and Global-Cebu’s Patrick Deyto had seven each, while Kaya-Makati’s Ref Cuaresma listed six clean sheets./PN
