BACOLOD City – Police must be visible in most parts of the city, Rep. Greg Gasataya told Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo, officer-in-charge of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), during the latter’s courtesy call.
Ebreo – who has been in the BCPO for two weeks – met Gasataya at Hi Strip in Barangay Villamonte on Dec. 7.
Gasataya said he will ask the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) director Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag for additional police personnel in the city.
Currently, the BCPO has about 700 police officers augmented by 300 personnel from the Regional Public Safety Battalion.
Ebreo and Gasataya discussed the peace and order situation in the city and other parts of Panay.
Gasataya told Ebreo that crimes may be rampant this holiday season with workers having their Christmas bonuses.
Gasataya also said he wants Ebreo to implement the security scheme that was observed by the BCPO during the MassKara Festival in October.
Ebreo has a background of the peace and order situation of the city as he reviewed the security plan for MassKara as the chief of the Regional Investigation and Detection Management Division of PRO-6 before Binag assigned him as the new BCPO head.
Ebreo will be updating Gasataya with reports, he said.
Ebreo replaced Superintendent Roderick Minong as the BCPO head after Binag instructed the latter to focus on being the commander of the Regional Public Safety Battalion following an ambush incident perpetrated by rebels in Maasin, Iloilo./PN
