BACOLOD City – Another deadline was set for the completion of the flyover on Araneta and Magsaysay streets in the city.
Rep. Greg Gasataya asked City District Engineer Abraham Villareal of the Department of Public Works and Highways to finish the flyover on Dec. 15 after the Nov. 30 deadline was not met.
Gasataya also said the contractor of the flyover project must be penalized for the delay of the construction.
Assistant District Engineer Leah Jamero, the public information officer of the City District Engineering Office, told Panay News via text message that the flyover is already “90-percent-plus” complete.
The remaining construction work will be for the side barriers and approach slabs and painting, which can be finished in two weeks, Jamero added.
Jamero stressed that the contractor will only be penalized if the delay was “solely their fault.”
The construction of the P367-million flyover project has begun late March this year.
When completed, it will be the second flyover in the city. The first one is located on Lacson Street and Circumferential road in Barangay Bata./PN
