BACOLOD City – Security guards allegedly shot a retired policeman and his companion at Bulata Pier Complex in Barangay Bulata, Cauayan, Negros Occidental.

The 58-year-old Inocentes Capuno of Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City and companion Rey Mendoza, 27, of Cagdianao, Dinagat Islands sustained gunshot wounds and were brought to the Merceditas J. Montilla District Hospital in Sipalay City for treatment, police said.

Initial investigation that officers from the Cauayan police station conducted revealed that Capuno and Mendoza were parking a grey Innova vehicle at the pier when security guards of the Ultrafine Security Agency and Radiant Security Agency opened fire at them using their shotguns at around 2:40 p.m. on Dec. 7.

The vehicle was riddled with seven bullet holes as a result, police said.

Police were still looking into the shooting./PN
