BACOLOD City – A Canter truck fell off a road in the hinterland Barangay Sikatuna, Isabela, Negros Occidental, killing a woman and hurting 12 other passengers.
The 33-year-old resident Jenny Eguin sustained head and body injuries and died, a police report showed.
Truck driver Carlito Gemproso, 43, of Valencia City, Bukidnon lost control of the brakes while they were negotiating a curve on Friday, initial investigation revealed.
Injured passengers were the 33-year-old Joerlyn Tambong, the 66-year-old Consolacion Eguin, the 30-year-old Eva Mae Jocento, Angel Jane Dela Torre, 20, Dionela Dela Torre, 50, Ma. Luz Eguin, 35, Levy Sarupan, 57, Mercidita Bangcolico, 69, Millard Rojo, 40, the 19-year-old Lowela Montaño, and three minors who the police failed to identify.
They were all ambulant vendors, police said.
Gemproso surrendered to the Isabela police station.
