ILOILO City – A 38-year-old man was stabbed at the Divisoria Nouvelty Shop in Barangay Railway, La Paz district.

Jeorgie Ponisca of Rizal Street, Barangay Laguda, La Paz was hit on the left shoulder.

Police referred him to the West Visayas State University Medical Center in Jaro.

Ponisca told the police he was calling a friend at the shop in the La Paz public market on Dec. 21 when a man he did not know shouted at him. He approached the man but the latter stabbed him and fled, he said.

Later, Ponisca was able to recognize his suspected attacker – identified as Mark Anthony Cajandig of Villa Carolina, Barangay Caingin, La Paz – via a photo on social media.

Police said they were looking for the suspected stabber as of this writing./PN
