BACOLOD City – Suspected members of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade shot a man in Hacienda Bagacay, Barangay Dos Hermanas, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

Talisay City police chief Superintendent Adonis Rosales identified the man as the 49-year-old resident Sammy Palomo.

From what the police gathered so far, Palomo was pacifying a commotion in a cockpit around 4 p.m. on Sunday when the six suspects shot him.

Palomo sustained gunshot wounds on the head and was rushed to the Talisay City Health Office where attending physician Dr. Joy Guanzon pronounced him “dead on arrival.”

Rosales said one of the suspects was a certain “Boy Europa,” a resident of Barangay Guimbalaon, Silay City, Negros Occidental.

Boy Europa and the other five unidentified suspects fled to the sugarcane field after the shooting, a police report showed.

Police recovered an empty shell of a .45-caliber firearm from the crime scene.

Talisay City police have yet to determine the motive in the shooting. They were still locating the suspects.

Appropriate charges will be filed against the suspects, Rosales said./PN
