KALIBO, Aklan – The 3rd Kalibo Ati-Atihan Futsal Cup will be on Jan. 6 to 7.
Over 250 players, coaches and trainers are expected to join the sports event that will be held at the Aklan Catholic College covered court.
The competition is open to girls born in 1999 and boys born in 2000. The maximum number of team members is 12.
Teams will be eliminated through the single-round robin system. The top two teams in each bracket will advance to the semi-final and final rounds.
The winners will take home trophies and certificates.
The Kalibo Sakeros Football Club partnered with the Kalibo Santo Niño Ati-Atihan Foundation, Inc. (Kasafi) and the municipal government of Kalibo in organizing the sports event.
Marrion Bautista of Kalibo Sakeros Football Club said many futsal players from Iloilo, Aklan, Capiz, and Cebu will be joining the competition.
A total of 24 teams will compete with each other, Bautista estimates.
A pre-tournament and presentation of the teams are scheduled on Jan. 5 at CityMall Kalibo at 5 p.m., he added. (Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
