ILOILO City – Four men mauled him in front of a convenience store in Barangay Bantud, La Paz district, a resident of Barangay Lublub, Dumangas, Iloilo told the police.
One of them also trained a firearm at him, said the 23-year-old Meljo Deramos.
A motorcycle-riding Deramos, who was temporarily residing in his employer’s house in Mirasol Subdivision, Barangay Nabitasan, La Paz, stopped by Quixmart at around 2 a.m. on Tuesday to buy cigarettes.
The four men suddenly attacked him, he said. He did not personally know them but could identify them by their faces, he added.
Deramos went home to Nabitasan to ask help from his employer’s family.
When he and Rodolfo Filomeno returned to Bantud to confront the attackers, the four yelled at them, “Ano ginapalak niyo? Ano ginapa-isog-isog niyo?” a police report showed.
One of the attackers, clad in a gray T-shirt with a “Criminology” text print on it, pointed an unidentified gun at them, Deramos said.
A security camera at Quixmart captured the incident, the police report stated.
Deramos complained of pains on various parts of the body. He was referred to the West Visayas State University Medical Center in Jaro for treatment./PN
