ILOILO City – For a day, a driver working for the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Western Visayas became the agency’s regional director.
Reynaldo Tejero has been serving in the DTI as driver for 17 years.
On Thursday, Tejero became the DTI regional director under the agency’s Bida Boss program.
DTI regional director Rebecca Rascon said the program – a nonmonetary benefit project – is unique to the DTI Region 6.
Tejero, as the “boss of the day,” took immediate action on all official communications and performed necessary functions of a DTI regional director except for signing documents.
“This is our way of recognizing people that hinges on the culture of DTI, which is coaching and mentoring,” said Rascon. “We coach people, we mentor them to be ready to move up the organization ladder.”
Tejero sent a memorandum to all drivers in five DTI provincial offices to submit a report on the amount spent for fuel and maintenance of vehicles in 2017.
Each DTI provincial office has one service vehicle. The regional office has three, Tejero said.
Tejero is part of the Mythical 5 of the DTI National Sprint Awards, which recognizes top performing employees of the DTI across the country. (PNA/PN)
