ILOILO City – Two people from Barangay Laguinbanua East, Numancia, Aklan have been arrested.
The 56-year-old Reynante Baron and the 39-year-old Alice Joy Ibañez were accused of concubinage, a police report showed.
They were also charged with violation of Section 5 (i) of Republic Act (RA) 9262, or the Anti-Violence against Women and their Children Act of 2004.
Section 5 (i) covers “causing mental or emotional anguish, public ridicule or humiliation to the woman or her child, including, but not limited to, repeated verbal and emotional abuse, and denial of financial support or custody of minor children of access to the woman’s child/children.”
Officers arrested them at around 1:50 p.m. on Tuesday and hauled them to the Numancia police station.
The court recommended a P10,000 bail bond for each of the suspects for the concubinage charge and P120,000 for the RA 9262 violation charge./PN
