BACOLOD City – An operation to find and rescue a man in Barangay Macasilao, Calatrava, Negros Occidental was currently ongoing yesterday.
Chief Inspector John Joel Batusbatusan, officer-in-charge of the Calatrava police station, identified the man as the 27-year-old resident Eric Villarito.
Villarito’s father Jerry believes that his son – who was wearing a red sleeveless top and black jersey shorts – was swept away by the strong current in Winaswasan River while he was on his way home around 3 a.m. on Jan. 1.
Negros Occidental has been placed under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1 on that day as tropical depression “Agaton” entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility./PN
