BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Government Employees Union (BCGEU) must furnish a detailed financial report on its three-day year-end assessment activity last month, Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr. said.
The year-end activity, which was held from Dec. 27 to 29, had an P8 million budget.
Gamboa submitted yesterday a proposed resolution to the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) requesting for the report.
He said the proposal will be part of the SP’s agenda today.
If the proposal is passed, Gamboa wants the BCGEU to submit the report to the SP within 15 days upon its receipt of the resolution’s copy.
He said it is BCGEU’s obligation to make a detailed financial report because public funds were used during the year-end activity.
On Dec. 20, Mayor Evelio Leonardia and BCGEU president Allyn Luv Dignadice entered into a memorandum of agreement, which allocated the year-end affair its P8-million budget.
Gamboa said the city government’s initial intended budget for the affair was only P2.5 million.
But during a special session on Dec. 18, the SP approved an amendment raising the budget to P8 million.
That time, Gamboa was serving the suspension order that the Office of the Ombudsman issued.
Gamboa and two other councilors – Em Ang and Sonya Verdeflor – were suspended for 90 days after the Ombudsman found they were guilty of simple neglect of duty.
Their suspension order was served on Nov. 29./PN
