BACOLOD City – Police arrested a man who tried to cart away a van in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.
Police identified the man as Seth Apala of Barangay Totongon, Mutia, Zamboangadel Norte.
Pastor NemindaEsquierdo of the United Church of Christ of the Philippine owns the Mits L300 van that was driven by Wilfredo Indus on Friday.
Indus parked the van along Senior Pedro Street that day.
After Esquierdo and Indus alighted the van, Apala immediately sat on the driver’s seat and drove the vehicle away.
Esquierdo and Indus reported to the police, who conducted a hot pursuit operation.
Police cornered Apala on Cervantes and Indepediencia streets around 1:45 p.m. on the same day.
Apala was detained at the Dumaguete City police station lockup facility.
Appropriate charges will be filed against Apala, police said./PN
