Busmen gun for 2nd win as they battle Home United
MANILA – Ceres Negros of the Philippines will aim for a second straight victory in the 2018 AFC Cup when it battles Home United of Singapore tonight at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
At 7:30 p.m. the reigning Philippine Football League champion hopes to score a follow-up to its 9-0 win over Beoung Ket Angkor of Cambodia on Feb. 13 at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.
The Risto Vidakovic-mentored squad is expected to make a strong stand against Home United with the return from injury of Manuel Ott, Patrick Reichelt and Nessi Ramos.
Also in the Negros Occidental-based team are Takumi Uesato, Bienvenido Marañon, Jose Elmer Porteria, Carlos De Murga, Jeffrey Christiaens, Stephan Schrock, Omid Nazari, Martin Steuble, and Louie Casas.
Home United has become a tougher team after a massive overhaul. It acquired veterans Sharil Ishak and Shakir Hamzah while Farits Hameed, Anumanthan and Abdil Qaiyyim are returning.
Home United remains undefeated at Jalan Besar since 2017 and has won all its AFC Cup games – including the first leg of the zonal final against Ceres Negros.
“It will be a tough match for us, especially that we always have a competitive matchup with Home United,” Vidakovic said. “But we have prepared for this match and I expect my players to go all-out.”/PN
