ILOILO City – A construction company driver was found dead in his quarters in Barangay Nabitasan, La Paz district Thursday.
John Rey Caumban, 42, of Barangay Tinaan Norte, Lambunao, Iloilo committed suicide by hanging, police said.
Police said pieces of information they gathered made it apparent that Caumban, who was married, killed himself after a supposed mistress ditched him.
His fellow driver at F. Gurrea Construction, Reymund Cabarles, found his body at around 7:30 a.m., police said.
Caumban hanged himself from the ceiling by tying a nylon rope around his neck, Police Officer 3 Antonio Santiañez.
On Wednesday night, Caumban and a welder identified only as Edgar had a drinking spree.
Caumban told his colleague that he was depressed because his mistress left him to marry another man, Santiañez said, citing investigation.
But “his wife told me that Caumban continued to live with her and their two children,” said the police investigator.
While Caumban’s wife was convinced that the construction company driver committed suicide, the police was not yet discounting possible foul play, Santiañez said./PN
