ILOILO City – Carnappers, beware.
The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) has created the Anti-Carnapping Team (ACT), an elite force trained to catch those fond of stealing motor vehicles.
ACT belongs to the Traffic Investigation Enforcement Unit (TIEU) of the ICPO. It is headed by Chief Inspector Rhea Santos.
According to ICPO director, Senior Superintendent Ruperto Floro, ACT is composed of police personnel from different police stations.
“If we have cases of carnapping, our ACT will work on the case,” said Floro.
Recently, ACT members underwent a seminar on carnapping laws. Also in attendance were police personnel from different police stations.
Held at the ICPO conference room, the seminar’s speaker was from the Regional Highway Patrol – Senior Police Officer 2 Jun Batilo.
All members were taught about traffic safety and anti-carnapping laws, specifically Republic Act (RA) 4136, road signs and circulars related to traffic safety and anti-carnapping.
RA 4136 is a compilation of laws relative to land transportation and traffic rules, including the registration and operation of motor vehicles and the licensing of owners, dealers, conductors, and drivers./PN
