ILOILO City – The barangay captain of West Timawa, Molo district accused a kagawad of grave oral defamation, a police report showed.
Village chief Nelly Magsipoc, 69, claimed village councilman Danilo Fresco “uttered defamatory words” against her before their constituents, she told the Molo police on May 29.
Fresco called her a “thief,” Magsipoc said, adding that she learned about this from Sangguniang Kabataan president-elect Sierra Hormillosa at around 9:30 p.m. on May 26.
At the time Fresco was in the barangay hall, the police report stated.
Another kagawad, Francisco Mata Jr., asked Fresco to stop but the latter ignored him and continued to rail against Magsipoc over what he claimed to be irregularities in some barangay projects.
“Kawatan na imo kapitan (Your village chief is a thief),” Magsipoc told the police, quoting Fresco as telling other councilmen.
“Nagpagwa siya sang de-clogging worth P80,000 kag gintagaan niya lang tag-P200 ang kada tawo kag gintunto niya ang pumuluyo diri,” the police report further quoted Fresco as saying.
“Kag nagpagwa siya sang bugas sa nutrition program sang December pero tag-duwa lang ka kilo, ang sobra ginbaligya niya sa tiyangge niya! Makawat siya,” the police report stated.
Fresco cannot be reached for comment as of this writing. (Christine Lorraine Gallo, Intern/PN)
