ILOILO City – Illegal gambling charges may be slapped against two men arrested in Barangay Divinagracia, La Paz district.
Rino De Leon, 27 of Barangay San Juan, Molo and Alexis Velardo, 40, of Barangay Jibao-an, Pavia, Iloilo were caught playing the card game tong-its, a police report showed.
Officers seized from them P97 worth of bet money and a set of playing cards, and hauled them to the La Paz police station after their arrest at 3:15 p.m. on Sunday.
De Leon and Velardo face charges for violation of Presidential Decree 1602.
2 MOTORCYCLES COLLIDE; 3 HURT
Three people were injured when two motorcycles crashed against each other in Barangay Sooc, Arevalo district.
Arnel Dizon, 41, and back rider Jeros Ame, 27 – both of Barangay Sooc, Arevalo – were confined in the West Visayas State University Medical Center in Jaro.
Marc Donato Bolivar, 36, of Barangay Iwa, Pototan, Iloilo was driving the other motorcycle. He was taken to the Iloilo Doctors’ Hospital in Molo.
The collision happened at around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, a police report showed. It was not immediately clear what caused it.
Dizon’s left foot was dislocated while Ame and Bolivar sustained wounds on their bodies.
DIVERSION ROAD CRASH HURTS RIDER
Anever Pecto figured in a crash in Barangay San Rafael, Mandurriao district on Monday.
The motorcycle he was driving crashed against a sport utility vehicle on Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. Avenue (Diversion Road) at around 7 a.m., a police report showed.
The 33-year-old resident of Barangay Inagdangan Norte, Zarraga, Iloilo sustained abrasions on his elbows.
Personnel of the Iloilo City Emergency Response team treated his scratches.
MAN ‘HACKS’ BRO
His younger brother allegedly hacked a 31-year-old farmer in Barangay Ubian, Maasin, Iloilo, a police report showed.
Belardo Consuelo was confined in the Western Visayas Medical Center in Mandurriao district.
Consuelo and younger brother Harold had an argument while walking home after a drinking spree at 10 p.m. on Sunday, investigation showed.
Harold then attacked his elder brother with a bolo, hitting him on the neck, the police report stated.
The suspect fled and remained at large as of this writing, said the police./PN
