BACOLOD City – A suspected drug personality was shot to death in Sitio Pasil, Barangay 1, Silay City, Negros Occidental, police said.
The 47-year-old resident Bernie Silva was standing along the road around 9 a.m. on July 28 when two men on board a motorcycle fired at him, a police report showed.
Silva sustained gunshot wounds on the abdomen and legs. He was rushed to the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City where he expired at around 2:30 p.m.
Police were still identifying and locating the suspects, who fled after the shooting.
Investigation to determine the motive was still ongoing.
Vista Alegre drug op nets 4 suspects
An entrapment operation led to the arrest of four drug suspects at Abada Escay in Barangay Vista Alegre, a Police Station 7 report showed.
Police Station 7 commander Chief Inspector Ramil Sarona identified three of them as the 46-year-old Jesse De la Cruz, 43-year-old Felicidad De la Pena and 56-year-old Reize Derla – all residents of Barangay Vista Alegre.
The other one was identified as the 39-year-old Rolly Comcom of Barangay Estefania, Sarona added.
Recovered from the suspects possession were nine sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated market value of P98,000 and P500 marked money, police said.
The sting operation was conducted on Saturday, the report added.
The suspects were detained at the Police Station 7 lockup facility and facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (With Cyrus Garde/PN)
Deadly weapons land 2 men in jail
Two men were nabbed for illegal possession of deadly weapons in Barangay 4, police said.
A .45-caliber gun was recovered from the 35-year-old Jhunbie Benjamin while a 14-inch bladed weapon, from the 38-year-old Enrile Lagutiman, a police report showed.
Benjamin and Lagutiman, both residents of Barangay Mansilingan, were arrested around 12:15 a.m. on Monday while officers from Police Station 2 were conducting Oplan Sita.
