BACOLOD City – Police were still identifying the suspect in shooting a man at a fishpond in Barangay 13, Victorias City, Negros Occidental.
The 24-year-old Rodnel Tanelon of Barangay Pasil, E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental sustained a gunshot wound on the back, police said.
Fishpond caretakers Ernesto Casis and Alberto Mendoza were at the guardhouse of Toreno Fishpond when they heard a gunshot around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
The gunshot came from the west side of Fishpond No. 10, they said.
When they checked, they found the wounded Tanelon lying on the ground.
They then rushed him to the Kaayong Lawas Medical Foundation, Inc. in Victorias City.
Tanelon was later transferred to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital for further treatment.
Fishpond workers Raul Pontino and David Leonardo reported the incident to the Victorias City police station.
Police only recovered a fishnet from the crime scene.
