Man, 35, shot to death in Sagay

BACOLOD City – A man was not as lucky as his pal when they were riddled with bullets on their way to a public market in Sagay City, Negros Occidental.

The 35-year-old Eduardo Balayo of Barangay Poblacion, Sagay City died of multiple gunshot wounds on the body, police said.

His friend Castigador Prudencio Jr. also sustained gunshot wounds but was now recuperating at the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City, Negros Occidental.

Balayo and Prudencio were waylaid by two armed men around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday in Purok Buri, Barangay Malubon, Sagay City, investigators said. The men then fired at them.

One of the suspects was identified as the 36-year-old Raymundo “Katong” Jimenez of Barangay Poblacion 2, Sagay City.

Jimenez and the other unidentified suspect fled after the shooting. They were still at large as of this writing.

Balayo was pronounced “dead on arrival” at the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital by attending physician Dr. Jose Reynaldo Sucgang.

Recovered from the crime scene were three empty shells of a .45-caliber gun and one empty shell of a .9mm firearm.

Officers from the Sagay City police station have yet to determine the motive in the shooting./PN
