
MANILA – Generika-Ayala Lifesavers leaned on a solid showing by Fiola Ceballos as it took down Cignal HD Spikers, 26-24, 19-25, 26-24, 16-14, in the 2019 Philippine Superliga All Filipino Conference at the San Juan Arena.
The Ilongga Ceballos waxed hot with 30 points on 25 attacks, three blocks, and two service aces on Saturday night while also contributing 30 excellent digs as the Lifesavers moved up to 8-5 slate.
Marivic Meneses supplied five of her team’s 11 blocks en route to 14 points while Mary Anne Mendrez chipped 12 markers.
Bacolodnon Patty Jane Orendain added 10 points.
After splitting the first four sets, both teams were still toe-to-toe in the fifth frame with the score tied at 14-all before Ceballos swung the lead to Lifesavers with a booming hit.
HD Spikers’ Mylene Paat committed an error to hand the win to Generika-Ayala.
Said Lifesavers head coach Sherwin Meneses, “Nakita ko aggressive sila. Individually, leaders sila. ‘Yun ang nagustuhan ko sa kanila, lumalaban.”
Alohi Robins-Hardy tallied triple-double of 30 excellent sets, 23 excellent digs, and 15 points, while Rachel Anne Daquis tallied 20 markers as the HD Spikers dropped to 6-6 card.
In the first game, PLDT Home Fibr Power Hitters pounced on winless Marinerang Pilipina Lady Skippers in straight sets, 25-16, 25-23, 25-20.
Gretchel Soltones had triple-double 11 points, 19 digs and 13 excellent receptions for the 4-7 PLDT./PN
