
MANILA – BanKo Perlas Lady Spikers continued its rise in the 2019 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference. It defeated the Chef’s Classics Lady Red Spikers, 25-7, 25-16, 25-17, at the San Juan Arena.
Angelique Gervacio and Jorella de Jesus top-scored with 10 points each while Kathy Bersola and Suzanne Roces chipped in nine markers apiece.
With the win, the Lady Spikers moved up to third spot with 8-5 slate.
After easily dominating in the first two sets, the Lady Spikers struggled at the onset of the third period. It stared at a 3-7 deficit but Gervacio and Nicole Tiamzon conspired on a 7-1 blast to give their team a 10-8 edge.
The Lady Red Spikers were able to knot things up at 10-all before De Jesus ignited a huge 13-2 spark to take a 10-point advantage and never looked back.
Twins Ella and Nieza Viray finished with seven and five points, respectively, as the Red Spikers remain winless in 15 outings.
Meanwhile, Bali Pure Purest Water Defenders carved out a tight five-set victory over the Philippine Air Force Lady Jet Spikers, 25-23, 12-25, 27-29, 25-23, 15-11, for its second straight win.
Grazielle Bombita unloaded 26 points, on 19 attacks, four aces, and three kill blocks, to go along with 17 excellent digs to lead the Water Defenders moved up to 4-10 win-loss record./PN
