ILOILO City – Police nabbed a woman soliciting bets from the illegal numbers “bookies” in Barangay Caingin, La Paz district.
Estela Novella of Barangay Baldoza, also in La Paz district was caught around 5:10 p.m. on Jan. 31, a police report showed.
Recovered from Novella’s possession were P55 bet money and gambling paraphernalia, it added.
The suspect was detained in the lockup cell of the La Paz police station, facing charges for violation of Presidential Decree 1602, which prescribes stiffer penalties on illegal gambling./PN
