BACOLOD City – Police caught four persons engaging in illegal gambling in Barangay Zone 6, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.
Police identified them as residents Daisy Villacampa, 54; Tita Chavez, 50; Marylou Alvarez, 60; and Emilio Reconia Jr., 49.
The suspects were nabbed after officers chanced upon them playing mahjong around 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 16.
Recovered from their possession were a set of majong tiles and P173 bet money.
The suspects were detained in the lockup cell of the Cadiz City police station, facing charges for violation of Presidential Decree 1602, which prescribes stiffer penalties on illegal gambling./PN
