ROXAS City – The temporary closure of the Office of the City Prosecutor in this city has been extended to Oct. 9.
The office as well as the whole Hall of Justice building were initially closed from Oct. 5 to yesterday, Oct. 6 after an employee tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on Oct. 3.
Disinfection of the site was subsequently conducted.
However, City Prosecutor Erwin Ignacio, with the approval of OIC-Regional Prosecutor Kenneth John N. Amamanglan, issued a memorandum dated Oct. 5 extending the temporary closure to Oct. 9.
“Being the late ‘epicenter’ of infection at the Hall of Justice, the office shall remain temporarily closed from Oct. 7 to 9 to complete the 14-day period reckoned from Sept. 25, 2020 when the said employee last reported for duty,” part of the memorandum read.
According to Ignacio, strict precautinary measures shall be put in place and adopted at least two weeks after Oct. 9, for the health and safety of the employees as well as of the public.
“The health and safey of everyone cannot be compromised. Prevention is better because there is yet no cure for COVID-19,” said Ignacio./PN
