IN HIS first acting role after the lockdown, “Ben X Jim” actor Teejay Marquez said more than anything, he is thankful to be given another challenging role to portray onscreen.
“Siyempre compared sa mga tapings namin before, mas maraming kailangan gawin tulad ng swab test and then marami pang mga kailangan sundin like social distancing. Pero okay naman. This is another opportunity for me as an actor to really showcase another style or to show my supporters and fans my versatility as an actor. For me, to represent the LGBTQ community is napakagandang opportunity and why not, it’s 2020 so we can do anything,” he shared.
With the BL genre’s fast growing popularity in the country, Teejay said he is not afraid to how his new role will affect his current fandom who knew him from his past roles which include being a member of F4 in the Indonesian remake of Meteor Garden in 2018.
“Bale nung nakita ko sa social media nag-te-trend na ‘yung BL genre, ‘yung mga Thai series na nakikita ko sa social media, so nung in-offer sa akin ito sabi ko hindi naman baka ganun ‘yung treatment sa amin ng tao pero at least magkakaroon kami ng mga bagong mga tao na makakakilala sa amin, lalaong lalo na ‘yung fandom ng mga BL community. To be honest, parang 70 percent yata ng BL community fan ay puro babae kahit sa Asia. So talagang nakakatuwa na may nag-me-message sa akin na iba’t ibang nationality tapos puro girls. Nakakatuwa na they’re very open. This generation is very open sa mga ganitong klaseng story. Nakakatuwa to represent or be one of the character na puwede nila panuorin at nakita nila as a role model,” he said.
The 27-year-old actor and model also revealed that he is not confining himself to the possibility of just having heterosexual relationships. “Oo naman siyempre. Yes naman. Wala namang pinipili ‘yung love. Love is for everybody and ako, as long as mutual ‘yung nararamdaman namin, kahit sino ka pa, kahit ano ka pa, kung mutual parehas tayong masaya, sige. Hindi mo masasabi eh. Pag tinamaan ka talaga, tatamaan ka. So kung kanino man ‘yan at kung sino man siya, eh di ba it’s for you to find out and it’s for you to take risks kasi mahal mo. So okay ako dun. I’m very open,” he revealed.
Teejay’s last relationship was with Indonesian singer Adeline Margaret whom he dated in 2018. (Push)
