JORDAN, Guimaras – The island province of Guimaras has resumed accepting returning locally stranded individuals (LSIs).
The moratorium on the LSIs’ return ended on Oct. 26. Vice Governor John Edward Gando said 27 LSIs have since returned.
Most of them were from Metro Manila, Cebu and parts of Luzon.
They were fetched at Fort San Pedro in Iloilo City then taken to hotels designated as quarantine facilities. They were also swabbed there for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) testing.
LSI who test negative for COVID-19 would be allowed to go home to complete their 14-day quarantine.
The COVID-positive ones would remain their designate hotels to complete their two-week quarantine.
Gando said the provincial government would shoulder the expenses.
To return to Guimaras, these are the requirements for LSIs:
* travel authority from the Philippine National Police
* medical certificate that the holder is free from COVID-1 9 symptoms
* prior coordination
* notice of acceptance from receiving local government unit
The moratorium on the return of LSIs to Guimaras took effect on Oct. 19.
As of Oct. 26, Guimaras had 170 COVID-19 cases (cumulative) of which 10 were active cases, 158 recovered and two deaths.
