SAN JOSE, Antique – Two more municipalities in Antique province are seeking to temporarily stop accepting returning locally stranded individuals (LSIs) this December – Anini-y and Belison.
The moratorium period is from Dec. 9, 2020 t Jan. 5, 2021, stated the local government unit (LGU) of Anini-y in a letter request to the Antique Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force.
The LGU of Belison, on the other hand, proposed a moratorium period from Dec. 4, 2020 to Jan. 8, 2021.
According to the two LGUs, the moratorium would give their respective frontliners time to rest. This would also decongest their quarantine facilities, they added.
But it is not the Antique Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force which would act on their requests but the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force (RIATF) headed by Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) regional director Juan Jovian Engeniero.
Previously, six Antique LGUs sought similar moratoriums, too – Culasi, Patnongon, Valderrama, Sibalom, Tibiao, and Tobias Fornier. RIATF approved their requests.
These are the schedules of their moratoriums:
* Culasi – Dec. 5, 2020 to Jan. 5, 2021
* Tibiao – Dec. 7, 2020 to Jan. 4, 2021
* Patnongon – Dec. 8, 2020 to Jan. 5, 2021
* Sibalom – Nov. 20, 2020 to Dec. 4, 2020
* Tobias Fornier – Dec. 9, 2020 to Jan. 3, 2021
* Culasi – Dec. 5, 2020 to Jan. 5, 2021
* Valderrama – Dec. 4, 2020 to Jan. 3, 2021
Gov. Rhodora Cadiao supported their requests. She said the frontliners of these LGUs were already exhausteds and needed to recharge.
But she asked them to shorten their period of LSI moratorium because many Antiqueños wanted to reunite with their families this holiday season./PN
