BACOLOD City – More than 100 hotels and tourism-related establishments here and in Negros Occidental are already accredited by the Department of Tourism (DOT).
Jennylind Cordero, provincial tourism officer, said as Nov. 19, 82 tourism establishments have reopened in Negros Occidental and 32 in Bacolod City.
These tourism establishments consist of agri-farms, eco-tourism sites, travel and tours, museums, tourist transports, and accommodation establishments.
Before an establishment could resume operation, it must first secure accreditation from DOT.
Cordero also revealed that in Western Visayas, 571 tourism-related establishments have resumed their operation.
She reminded establishments to strictly enforce health protocols imposed by the government such as allowing only 50 percent carrying capacity for venues, wearing of facemasks and face shields, and observing proper physical distancing. In a related development, the city government of Sipalay in Negros Occidental is now allowing parties, subject to health protocols.
Keith Brandon Cari-an, public information officer, said since September resorts in the city have been accredited by the DOT.
Cari-an said those planning to get into the city may download and fill-up the travel form in the city’s official social media page. Visitors are also required to state where they will be staying in order for barangay personnel to monitor them.
Cari-an also revealed that by next month, they are planning to roll-out a digital travel form, wherein those entering the city can start using quick response or QR codes./PN
