3 killed, 5 injured in NegOcc road mishaps

BACOLOD City – Three persons died and five others were injured in two separate vehicular accidents in Negros Occidental.

In Sagay City’s Barangay Poblacion 2, a 77-year-old woman died in a head-on collision between a sport utility vehicle (SUV) and a Ceres bus.

Police identified the fatality as Asunsita Brion of Barangay Balintawak, Escalante City.

Brion’s daughter, 42-year-old Charlotte Brion Macasling, a dentist at the Escalante City Health Office, and their companion Jessa Mae Nicos, sustained body injuries.

The accident happened around 3:45 p.m. on Dec. 14, police said.

Macasling, Nicos and three other bus passengers were brought to a hospital for medical treatment.

Initial investigation revealed the bus was heading south to Bacolod City when hit by the SUV.  

On the same day in Victorias City, a motorcycle driver and his backrider died. They crashed against a Ceres bus on the national highway in Barangay 13 around 9:10 p.m.

The Victorias police identified the fatalities as 32-year-old Richard Christian Casin of Barangay 7 and 21-year-old Earl Sorilla of Barangay 6.

Police investigation showed that the motorcycle driven by Sorilla was travelling south when they collided with a Ceres bus that was executing a left turn on the way to its bus terminal.

The driver and conductor of the bus, whose names were not disclosed by the police, were taken to the Victorias City Police Station./PN
