BACOLOD City – After yielding a positive test result for illegal drugs, a police corporal of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) is under investigation.
Police Brigadier General Rolando Miranda, Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) director, also ordered that this policeman be disarmed.
“We will let the (Philippine National Police’s Internal Affairs Service) handle the case para walang bias,” Miranda said.
The PRO-6 director said more drug tests will be conducted on police officers in the region.
The regional police office received 8,000 drug test kits for “targeted drug testing.”
“Appropriate administrative and criminal charges will be filed against police officers who will test positive for illegal drugs,” said Miranda.
On Monday, the PRO-6 Crime Laboratory chief, Colonel Enrique Ancheta, said one of five police officers from the NOCPPO tested positive for illegal drugs when they conducted a random drug test earlier this month.
No further information was provided on what kind of illegal drugs were detected in the policeman’s body./PN
