Antique fugitive hiding for 13 years finally caught

PANDAN, Antique – Charged with three counts of rape, the No. 25 most wanted person in Antique province was apprehended in Novaliches, Quezon City.

The 35-year-old Agustin Panganiban eluded arrest for 13 years. But on Jan. 18, elements of the municipal police station here finally caught him.

The alleged rape happened twice in February 2007 and March 2007. The victim said the suspect threatened to kill her should she tell anyone about it.

Panganiban then disappeared from Pandan.

In arresting the suspect, the Pandan police was assisted by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group’s Southern Metro Manila District Field Unit, Police Station 8 of Quezon City, and Intelligence Unit of the Antique Police Provincial Office.

Panganiban’s arrest warrant was issued by Acting Presiding Judge Rafael Penuela of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 13 (Culasi, Antique). 

The court recommended no bail for Panganiban’s temporary liberty./PN
