BACOLOD City – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is mulling four-lane by-pass and diversion roads in the west portion of this city.
These projects are seen to decongest traffic on Araneta Street in Barangay Sum-ag and Burgos Extension in Barangay Villamonte, according to Cong. Greg Gasataya.
He recently presented these plans to DPWH chief Mark Villar.
“The DPWH has yet to ascertain the amount for the construction of the projects which will start this year. It was included in the 2021 General Appropriations Act,” Gasataya said.
These new road projects will start from the southern portion in the boundaries of Barangay Sum-ag and Bago City going to Barangay Cabug and will connect to the Bacolod Economic Highway as a diversion road.
The lawmaker also said another diversion road will be constructed in Barangay Granada going right to Barangay Alangilan.
Meanwhile, nine Barangay Health Centers will be constructed in the city this year, Gasataya said.
The barangays that availed the project were Punta Taytay, Cabug, Mansilingan, Estefania, Mandalagan, Banago, Taculing, Villamonte, and Alijis.
